Welcome to the Attfield Theatre

Hello.

We hope you are all having a wonderful summer and that many of you were able to join us for our our summer sing a long in Cae Glas park.  Whilst we don’t have a production now until the autumn we have not been idle and have been focussing our efforts on improvement works to make our little theatre even better for the new season.

Talking of the new season, we are delighted to be bringing you the following 4 plays during the 2026/2027 season.

We kick off with THE FULL MONTY by Simon Beaufoy, directed by Debs Watson.  This will run for 7 nights, Saturday 26th September followed by Monday 28th September to Saturday 3rd October.  Rehearsals and set building are well underway and we expect tickets to sell quickly when they go on sale on 1st September.  We are also planning on producing a Full Monty calendar to increase awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of testing, and to raise critical funds for the charity Prostate Cancer Research.  We have been extremely fortunate to have 12 local businesses sponsor a page each of the calendar, which will means there will be even more profits to benefit the charity.

Our second play of the season will be BLEAK EXPECTATIONS by Mark Evans, director Kath Evans.  This is a hilarious chaotic caper to get you all in the Christmas mood, featuring dastardly villains, preposterous names, pulse-quickening romances and heart-rending death scenes.

Our third play will be SAME TIME ANOTHER YEAR by Bernard Slade, director Malcolm Congreve.  This play is a sequel to SAME TIME NEXT YEAR which followed the annual extramarital rendezvous of Doris and George.  Catch up with the pair in the sequel as they navigate the realities of aging, grown children and grandchildren.

Our final offering for the 2026/27 season will be DIRTY DUSTING by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, directed by Stephen Humphreys.  The play follows three elderly office cleaning ladies – Gladys, Olive and Elsie – who face redundancy and decide to start an anonymous telephone sex line to make extra cash.

We were delighted once again to have been recognised by NODA for our production year 2025, receiving the following nominations: Veronica’s Room (drama), Allo Allo 2 (programme) and the quality of our sets across the season.

We attended the awards ceremony on Sunday 29th March where we were even more delighted when Veronica’s Room won best drama.  The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) serves as the primary representative body for amateur theatre in the UK. Its purpose is to support, connect and celebrate amateur theatre groups by providing advice and performance reports to ensure high standards of practice and performance.
